Traditional Bathroom Renovations

Timeless traditional bathrooms, designed and installed
A traditional bathroom should feel effortlessly elegant. Painted cabinetry with the right weight, panelling that sits in quiet conversation with the architecture, and brassware that looks as though it has always belonged there…the kind of room that grows more beautiful with time.
For over ten years, MAS Kuchen has been creating traditional interiors across Reading, Camberley and throughout Berkshire, Surrey and Hampshire. The same designers, the same in-house installation team and the same complete turnkey service now bring that craft to bespoke traditional bathrooms.
What defines a traditional bathroom
Traditional bathroom design is about confidence in the classics. Honest materials, balanced proportions and period-appropriate detailing come together to create a room that feels rooted, refined and built to last.
- Honest materials: Solid timber, painted cabinetry, natural stone and quality ceramic form the foundation of any traditional scheme.
- Proportion and symmetr:. Balanced layouts, centred focal points and carefully considered sightlines.
- Classic detailing: Tongue-and-groove panelling, skirting, cornicing and inset cabinet panels bring the room its character.
- Period-appropriate fitting: Exposed shower valves, pillar taps, high-level or close-coupled WCs and traditional radiators reinforce the style.
- A warmer palette: Off-whites, soft greens, deep blues and natural stone carry beautifully without ever feeling heavy.
Key Features
The bath is almost always the heart of a traditional bathroom. A roll-top on claw feet sits beautifully in a generous room, while a back-to-wall slipper bath works wonderfully in a more compact footprint. A separate shower enclosure, rather than an over-bath shower, lets each fitting be specified and positioned on its own terms.
Pedestal or console basins, vanities with inset ceramic bowls, and brassware in chrome, nickel or aged brass are all period-appropriate. Walls take a combination of panelling, tiling and painted finishes beautifully, with the split height chosen to flatter the proportions of the room.
